Our Philosophy

At Better Day, our focus is on creating a better day for everyone.  Our compassionate staff are well-versed both professionally and personally with the challenges that those living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias face each day, as well as the challenges that their loved ones caring for them also encounter

Caring for someone with dementia takes a village

And we’re here to be a part of your caregiving journey.  Compassion, kindness, and focusing on what people can do versus what people can’t do, are guiding principles in how our program is run each day.  And because of this emphasis, we are able to nurture and support those living with the disease-and their families-with the dignity and respect they deserve.

“My mother has been at Pleasantries Day Program for well over a year now, and we couldn’t be happier with this program. My mother has early dementia and Pleasantries has helped her be active, engaged, and social throughout the day.  I truly believe that having her at such a positive day program has slowed the progression of her dementia. The staff are top notch, and really care about Mom’s well-being and happiness.  They make a point of tailoring her day, finding enriching activities that she enjoys, and most of all giving her a purpose. We have the peace of mind knowing that she is well cared for and happy while we are at work—and she raves about her day. She simply lights up telling anyone and everyone about how much she enjoys her time at Pleasantries—and she wakes up on weekend mornings looking to go to Pleasantries. I can’t say enough about how much we value and would recommend Pleasantries for any older adult looking for a positive, caring, enriching day experience.” - Michele D., Hudson, MA

“The wonderful and caring team at Better Day has made a world of difference in my mother's mood and has maintained her mental and physical abilities through all of their gentle efforts to exercise her brain (working her memory) and body with stretching/yoga.  She loves going and feels so welcome - thanks to the attentive and kind team there.  It is also so nice to have environment as a home-like setting vs. an institutional feel.  My mom feels like she is visiting with friends, playing games, doing all kinds of arts, crafts, baking as well as conversing and reminiscing with her peers.  I truly don't know what I would do without Better Day and am so grateful to know that I'm leaving my mom in a safe environment to spend the day with people who really care about her and her well being.  The quality of care she receives at Better Day has rippled through our home-life in so many positive ways.  Thank you all for all that you do.” -Valerie H., Sudbury, MA
